Self Regulation
A Reflection
Multitasking is a Fallacy
We Can Only Focus on One Thing at a Time
We can keep several things in mind but it ends up being sequential attention
As I think back to many of my life's changes, I think fondly of clean breaks and new starts
Should I feel embarrassed that I'm not in a more powerful and consolidated position?
There are many things I've done to align myself more fully to the life I desire
In each case it seems I have to slow down the process to look at the thing
Removing one problem at a time is the game - then make them stay away
My mom was a swim coach but that doesn't exactly help me as an adult
The past doesn't matter if we can build a better future
What better way than starting with your own body?
I have many friends who are extremely successful, organized and well put-together
In general however my life doesn't always reflect those exact credentials
My life at different times has reflected so many different weights of importance
For each of those scenarios is a different values and priorities mix
Do this for us now
For the success and providence
Of neighborhood games everywhere
Kids gain confidence by playing sports
To accel at sports we need to condition our bodies
There is no better body conditioning than martial arts and swim
That is why I put together this memoir about Swim Fu
That's why we are getting to the choppa
That is why I call myself a "Swim Yogi"
Aces helped me dream about martial motion
He helped me separate the parts
Now I've passed this along
From him to me to you
Kids gain confidence with sports
The same can be said about you, Dear Reader
Whatever you can do to make or let it happen, I hope you will
A short day in the pool is still a day in the pool
You'll have to make good decisions
It doesn't continue if you're injured
You don't have to go hard every day
You have to go all year
Without injury
The town is counting on you
During your year you will have many problems
You cannot rush through your year
That approach won't work
If you "solve" a problem and it returns
That wasn't very solved was it
Solve problems one at a time
Don't rush the process
40 laps in 40 minutes
Not a second more
You'll need a year
Have fun with it
