Hitting the Wall
Literal and Figurative
You probably think I'm joking
When I urge you not to crash into the wall
It happens when we're deep in thought - silliest mistake ever
MoneyPenny: I assure you this is no joke - hitting the actual wall can and does happen - be ready!
A friend once told me something that I didn't believe
He told me that, "One day because you are so deep in thought"
"You will shower before work but forget to wash your hair on that day"
I thought this was possibly the most
Ridiculous thing I had ever heard
Then on picture day it happened
I can still remember my moment of realization
My photo time slot in the office had been booked for 11am
It was around 10:20 am that I accidentally swished my hand through my hair
The greasy sheen I felt - made my face turn sheet white
It was the like entire office was frozen in time
My coworker was looking right in my eyes
As I made my horrific hygiene discovery
How in the world could such a thing happen
Especially how did it happen on picture day
There it was - one mangy mop of unwashed hair
There was no time to go home and shower
There was no good reason to cancel the appointment
The professional had carefully booked a time slot for everyone in the office
That is exactly what it's like to swim headlong into the wall
Here you're doing this activity perhaps every day
Perhaps you're doing this 40-80 times per day
There is nothing special about any of the laps
Except for the power to be in Lazy River
Lazy River is a different kind of place
During the rolling rest
The mandatory vacation
Also called the "snow day"
There are different forces at work
This is the time to be kind to self
This is when we lower our heart rate
We do this whether we need the rest or not
From within that place
I'm saying it is possible
To become lost in that place
