They might be what you remember most

Years ago my best man and I were having a casual chat that stayed with me
He said, "What if you could write down your jokes and publish them later?"
We were talking about silly laughs - puns & ridiculous knock-knock jokes
We discussed how language and humor breathe and change over time

The language of Memes was invented during my time living as an adult
At first - A lot of people didn't understand how powerful they really are
My son who is presently in middle school sees a lot of great ones

My son will never live in a world without Memes
I was born into a world where they didn't exist
I wrote a book that can't live without them
Weirdos in politics are trying to ban them

The Meme is not a small thing
So why on Earth is it such a big thing?
Explaining what a meme is - it's not so simple
It's just a picture and a phrase - so why the big deal?

The double language of words and pictures - creates visual interplay
The point of a meme is that the relationship between picture and phrase
There is something that happens in our cognition as we reconcile the duality
The phrase can reinforce the picture - or it can draw attention to parody elements
It sounds so simple but this is such a brilliant concept I can't even explain it thoroughly

Since I'm having a hard time removing some of these memes
How about let's agree I'll just drop a few in - in at the end
I don't think I need memes in my literary production
Yet I do think they can keep a reader's attention

Hopefully they don't become too distracting
This is an intelligent philosophy memoir
With some thought-provoking memes
And some silly immature ones too
I hope you enjoy them like I do
